Choosing a DUI Program in Fresno County

Each year, the state of California approves and licenses DUI schools to provide classes and counseling services to those convicted of alcohol-related driving offenses. These DUI programs offer the offender the chance to address underlying issues that may be promoting drug and alcohol abuse. Many of the state-sponsored programs include group and individual counseling components in addition to classroom study.

Review the Official Fresno County DUI School List below if you are looking for state-licensed DUI programs in Fresno County, California. Select a program that is close to your school or work, and then contact the program’s representative to verify the program that you need is offered by the school. The Cost of a DUI in Fresno County

A DUI conviction in Fresno County can cost you several thousand dollars. In addition to fines and court costs, if you hire a lawyer, you will also need to pay attorney fees. You may qualify for a restricted license, however, you will first need to obtain a California SR22 insurance rider. To get this rider, you must first purchase a high-risk insurance policy at the cost of three to five times standard insurance rates. In addition to all of these costs, you must pay for the DUI program that is ordered by the court.

      Fresno County Wet Reckless Program

Individuals who are convicted of a driving offense with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of less than .08 are required to attend the Wet Reckless program. The 12 hour SB1176 Wet Reckless course will cost the student around $300 to $400 in DUI program tuition.

Fresno County First Offense DUI Programs

Drivers who are convicted of one DUI in a 10 year period are considered to be first offenders. If the driver is arrested with a BAC over .08 but under .20, he must attend a three month program of drug and alcohol education and counseling. The 30 hour SB 38 program costs the student about $600. If the driver’s BAC is greater than .20, he is required to attend a more extensive, nine month program. The cost for the AB1353 nine month program is about $1,200 and requires 60 hours of class time and counseling. If the driver refuses a blood or breath test when stopped, he is adjudicated to the nine month class.

Fresno County Second and Subsequent Offense Programs

Drivers who are convicted of two or more DUIs in a 10 year span must take multiple offender classes. The SB38 18 month program will cost the individual around $1,800 to $1,900. The multi-offender program consists of 12 hours of drug and alcohol class time, six hours of community re-entry monitoring, 52 hours of group counseling and biweekly meetings with a drug and alcohol counselor for the first year of the 18-month program.

Fresno County Third Offense DUI Classes

If the driver is convicted of three or more DUIs within 10 years, the court may assign the individual to third offense DUI classes. These classes extend over a 30 month period, and consist of 78 hours of group counseling, 12 hours of drug and alcohol education class time, extensive community service and regular one-on-one interviews throughout the program. The cost of third offense DUI classes will be approximately $3,000.

A DUI in Fresno or anywhere in California can be very costly, both in terms of money and time. However, if you cannot afford to pay your DUI class tuition all at once, you can pay a deposit when you start, and then pay the balance as your proceed through the program. If you cannot afford to pay for the class, you may qualify for a DUI program fee waiver.
